In class bounce flash exercise

"had nuts" Good experience, now I can really tell when direct flash is used and how much better just bouncing can boost a photo.

Headline: When Do You Know When to Stop.

We all have demons and sometimes we don't even know it. Do college students spend more time on drinking then on textbooks?

This image was made at f/8.0, 1/200, ISO 200. I used a strobe on the camera and bounced it off the ceiling. Thus I also have no picture of my lighting setup.

FASHION

This photograph was captured at f/8.0, 1/200, ISO 100, and A custom W.B. There is one strobe camera left bouncing off an umbrella as main source and second on the background that I don't think recycled to fire for this frame.

This photograph was taken at f/8.0, 1/200, ISO 100, Custom W.B. There is one strobe as my main left off to the left that is being diffused with an umbrella and a second strobe on the ground behind Jen lighting the background.

Thanks to Jen for modeling for me.

Lighting

For this image I set a strobe out side to look like window light for the main light. there is also a strobe behind Maines to keep keep away from the background. The image was caught at f/8.0, 1/200, ISO200 with a W.B. set to flash.

For this image I used two strobes, one firing on my back, and the other off to camera left with an umbrella as the main light. The frame was captured at f/7.1, 1/200, ISO 100 with a W.B. set to flash.

I got to hungry trying to make an apple still life. I used a softbox on a strobe that was at about 7.5 power. I also used a on camera strobe that was bounching off a white reflector for fill.
It was made at f/14, 1/200, ISO 100.

For this photo I was at f/16, 1/200 ISO 100.
The strobe was set at about 8.5 and had a medium softbox on that was behind and facing down. I also used my on camera flash bouncing off a white reflector to the left for fill.

Really won't be shit without my crew.

You don't know anything about photography until you have a picture made at Walmart for the holidays of your roomates.

Painting with light

This image was produced at F/11 in 83 seconds. I shot raw so i was able to just use an auto white balance and then get the color from the CTO gel on the speedlite to really pop while it filled the smoke using photoshop.

This picture was a 171 second exposure at f/4.0. It was white balanced to the guys passed out in the background. They where hit with a speedlite a few times. The guys in the foreground also where hit with the speedlite with less power and a yellow gel. The 'character' on the left also was painted with a flash light on the face for a few.

First post/assignment/studio lighting at CMU

Fielding1Fielding2

Wow finally got my first post up. This is my portrait assignment for 420. Could have shot more and definitely moved the lights around more. Was very comfortable working with subject and feel that I got his personality across showing who he is.
